Under the musical direction of Janet Silverton, Leonora String Ensemble provides audiences with a beautiful musical experience with its unique fusion of classical music with the timeless and diverse heritage of traditional Jewish music.
Consistently in demand in the Jewish community, Leonora Strings perform at private functions such as weddings, barmitzvahs and batmitzvahs and also at community events, such as the opening, in 1997, of the newly rebuilt Central Synagogue in Bondi Junction.
Leonora Strings has showcased Jewish music by playing in a Jewish cultural festival held at the Powerhouse Museum as well as playing in a multicultural programme that was organized between the Jewish and Chinese communities. They have also performed for the Sydney Festival's Music on Site program. Leonora string quartet has recorded some of its unique material in its CD entitled 'Classic String Simcha'.
