Leonora String Ensemble
Founding member and viola player, Janet Silverton ASCM DSCM Grad Dip Ed, directs the Leonora Ensemble. Janet completed her music diplomas at the Sydney Conservatorium after completing her schooling at the Conservatorium High School. Janet has freelanced with the major professional orchestras of Sydney. Some of the finest professional musicians in Sydney are members of Leonora Strings. The Ensemble's members have all played or are currently playing in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. Regular players of the Leonora String Ensemble include Biyana Rozenblit, Rosemary Byron and Teri Singer on violins; Kate Morgan, Steven Meyer and Jo Costantino on cellos; and Rebecca Steel on flute. The original formation of the Leonora String Ensemble is a string quartet with two violins, viola and cello. However, this can be tailored to a smaller or larger group, with the option of flute if desired. An extensive repertoire of music ranging from light classics, to film scores, and more, is offered by Leonora Strings. A specialised Jewish music section is also available. In addition to its excellent performance standard, the Leonora Ensemble prides itself on providing an individualised service that caters to your needs. They have performed at numerous corporate, university graduation ceremonies and community functions.
